Abstract

A number of available compounds were tested for their ability to inhibit the deteriorating effect of light on the ice-nucleating properties of silver iodide. They were evaluated by a comparison of the powder x-ray diffraction diagrams before and after irradiation. A characteristic change of the diffraction profile occurs for silver iodide, which was completely suppressed by a number of additives. A total of 18 compounds are grouped in three different ranges of effectiveness.
