Abstract

Differences in December sea surface temperatures between the eastern and western Pacific are statistically linked with California rainfall in the following February-March-April. Warm eastern and cold western sea temperatures give an increased probability of raininess, while cold eastern and warm western sea temperatures give an increased probability of drought.
