Abstract

The homogeneous nucleation temperature of water droplets 15–20 μ in radius falling in different gaseous environments has been measured. After allowance has been made for different thermal relaxation times and equilibrium freezing point depression, the nucleation temperatures in He, H2, O2, A, CO2 and air differ by at most 1C.
