Abstract

The motion of a warm bubble in neutral surroundings is studied using the spectral form of the anelastic equations for shallow convection. Kinetic energy and temperature variance spectra are obtained and the nonlinear transfers from one scale to another are studied. The results are compared with those obtained from similarity theory as well as from other numerical models.
