A questionnaire was designed to probe the degree to which specific pedagogical tasks or techniques are incorporated into introductory meteorology courses. Responses from higher education institutions showed that there is a large deviation among colleges with regard to the inclusion of liberal arts within the course structure. Though the results are generally positive, there are three specific areas that warrant attention. 1) Students need to be integrated into the learning process. 2) Students' writing skills need to be improved. 3) Instructors need to illustrate the advancements in the science of meteorology in their courses.
