Abstract

A statistical comparison is made between two versions of a tropical cyclone model tested on Pacific storms during 1979. One version of the model uses periodic boundary conditions on the cast and west and free-slip walls on the north and south boundaries while the other uses time-dependent boundary conditions. The time-dependent boundary conditions decreased the mean position error approximately 10%.
