Abstract

Ten years of tropical cyclone motion data for the western North Pacific have been compared with coincident filtered 500 mb operational analyses of the Fleet Numerical Oceanography Center. The results indicate tropical cyclone motion in the mean is slightly to the left of the 500 mb steering current with the leftward bias being greater at higher latitudes.
