The growth rate shown for the Archiving, Validation, and Interpretation of Satellite Oceanographic data (AVISO; σAVISO) in Fig. 2 of Chang and Oey (2014) is incorrect. While the various model growth rates, σModel, σModel//, σModelNF, and σModel0–100m, and the growth rate σNM from the normal-mode analysis of the appendix of Chang and Oey (2014) are shown correctly, the σAVISO was calculated using a different computer program, and its values need to be multiplied by 0.5
