Abstract

Observations from the Oslofjord show that the transverse gradients of temperature and density are of the same order of magnitude as those in the longitudinal direction of the fjord. A comparison between current measurements and computed geostrophic current shows good agreement. This indicates that the transverse gradients in fjords should not be neglected.
