For last winter's forecast, see the Feb. 1940, Bulletin, p. 76. The forecast, “no basis for expecting an important departure” was verified, the departure being only + 18%.

*Because of the censorship grown out of the war the majority of the cabled reports were late in arriving. However, sufficient indications became available by the end of December to make possible the announcement of the above result at the December, 1940, meeting of the A. M. S. in Philadelphia.
