The use of deviations from standard values rather than the use of absolute values enables computations to be made with lower precision without any accompanying loss in accuracy. Computation of the altimeter correction rather than the absolute height permits the desigh of a hydrostatic computer with a tenfold increase in accuracy when employing computing elements of similar precision.
