Abstract
A summary of the 1977 Atlantic hurricane season is presented along with detailed accounts of individual storms.
This season was a rather inactive one, with fewer storms than normal. Anita was an intense hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico, but made landfall along a sparsely populated section of the Mexican coast. Babe was the only named storm to cross the United States coastline this year.

Abstract
The 1977 hurricane season produced 105 “tropical systems”, of which 19 acquired the closed circulation of a depression. Over half of these (69) originated over the African Continent. African seedlings initiated four of the six named Atlantic storms, and all but one of the eight east Pacific storms.

Abstract
The 1976 hurricane mason produced 111 “tropical systems”, of which 23 acquired the closed circulation of a depression. Over half of these (68) originated over the African Continent. These are the most African systems observed since our annual summary began in 1968. African seedlings initiated four of the eight named Atlantic storms, and all but one of the fourteen East Pacific storms.

Abstract
A summary of the 1976 Atlantic hurricane season is presented along with detailed accounts of individual storms.
Interesting aspects of the 1976 season include the absence of any named storms in either the Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean Sea. Two storms in the central north Atlantic recurved toward the cast at unusually low latitudes. Hurricane Belle struck Long Island after weakening dramatically during the 24 h period prior to landfall.

The 1975 hurricane season produced 113 “tropical systems”, of which 28 acquired the closed circulation of a depression. Over half of these (61) originated over the African Continent. This is the most African systems observed since our annual summary began in 1968. African seedlings initiated five of the eight named Atlantic storms and thirteen of the sixteen East Pacific storms.

Abstract
The 1974 hurricane season produced 96 “tropical systems,” of which 25 acquired the closed circulation of a depression. The origin of nearly half of these, 52, was over the continent of Africa. African seedlings initiated five of the seven named Atlantic storms, and disturbances of Atlantic origin spawned 12 of the 17 East Pacific named storms.
