Abstract

The history of automatic weather stations is mentioned and the Navy-type station described. This station operates unattended for extended periods of time and broadcasts measurements of atmospheric pressure, temperature, relative humidity, wind direction, wind speed, and rainfall according to a predetermined schedule. It is designed for operation in remote regions where maintenance of manned stations is impracticable.
