Abstract

The TVA Climatic Data Base (Finsen, 1980) is a graphic portrayal and analysis of the climatic elements and influences important to the building professions toward the resolution of climate responsive architectural design. The data base, including regional (macro-), meso- and relevant microclimatic analysis techniques, is summarized and presented and current work is previewed. The use and importance of climatic data in the design process and the interaction of climatic elements with man and architecture is discussed in the context of the process of developing the data base.
