Over the past 100 years, AMS has been a home for weather enthusiasts from across the nation and for an increasing diversity of professionals working in all aspects of the weather, water, and climate enterprise.

As we look into our second century, we are inspired to reflect on the myriad achievements in the meteorological and related sciences in this first century and to imagine the future these make possible.

AMS owes great thanks to Bob Rauber (Editor and AMS Publications Commissioner) and Greg M. McFarquhar (Editor and AMS Monographs Chief Editor) for their creativity and commitment to this endeavor. Without their efforts, this monograph celebrating the achievements of our field over the past century would not have been possible. Thank you both.

The lead authors were the drivers of each of the chapters. Their expertise, and the expertise of their many coauthors, ensured invigorating and insightful reflections on the past and visions of the future.

Enjoy your journeys through this monograph. We look forward to future celebrations of the achievements of the next generation of our colleagues in the years ahead.
