of the BL is essential in state-of-the-art numerical weather forecast models for correctly modeling convection, clouds, and regional precipitation events. An evaluation of the performance of such models in the BL is thus of extreme importance and cannot be carried out using twice-daily operational radiosonde data as demonstrated above.
