Abstract
An investigation of the extension of radar ranges coincidental with the existence of surface-based superrefractive layers is discussed using data obtained during the operation of a low-sited overwater radar link. Instrument readings were found to agree substantially with results predicted by previously published methods. Individual cases are treated to show the interrelationship with the increase in signal strength and the development of the super-refractive layer as a result of air-mass movement and modification.
