Cannon (2008) contains typographical errors in section 3b on p. 1289, in Eq. (8) on p. 1290, and in the caption of Table 2 on p. 1293. On p. 1289, the sentence at the end of the first complete paragraph should read as follows: “The mean value of the distribution is μ(B) = pαβ and the variance is s(B) = [1 + (1 − p)α]β2.” In the original paper, division operators were mistakenly included in the expressions for the mean and variance. On p. 1290, the gk function should be omitted from Eq. (8). Finally, the caption for Table 2 on p. 1293 should include the sentence: “rmse and r indicate, respectively, the root mean squared error and correlation coefficient between observed values and the predicted conditional mean; the subscript s refers to values calculated for the spatial mean over the 10 stations.”
