Abstract

Using observed space and time derivatives of the distribution of 3He, tritium and tritium–helium age in the Sargasso Sea, and the tritium–helium age equation, the isopycnal eddy diffusivity is estimated to be 1840 ± SW 440 m2s−1 within the main thermocline.
