Abstract

A numerical wind-wave model is applied for a range of storm parameters typical of tropical cyclones which occur in the western North Pacific Ocean. The wind input for the model is based upon a parameterized version of a tropical cyclone characterized by such parameters as maximum sustained wind, radius to maximum wind and speed of propagation of the storm. The computed sea states compare favorably with limited observational analyses.
